Menganyam ketupat

Hello everybody after a week of no posts and SELAMAT HARI RAYA!It seems like it was just yesterday when we Muslims started fasting.Onto the post,

The picture above wasn't taken in Selangor but was taken at my grandmother's place at Muar.Muar is located in Johor. My grandmother was teaching my dad how to weave or in Malay, menganyam ketupat.Actually,my dad already knows how but he wanted to refresh mis memory because we will be going to Kedah during Eid ul-Adha and dad came up with an idea to weave ketupat for us to eat with rendang at Kedah.I also tried to weave one but probabbly because my hands were a bit stiff,I couldn't make one.I guess I need more practice.

A new sister

[Picture by Dad of Five aka my Dad]

Finally,my mum has just delivered the baby which has been in her tummy for 9 months.Alhamdulillah, praise to God,it was a girl!Mum had decided her name long before she was even born. Her name is Siti Hajar and was born on the 27th of September at 1.20 am at Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital by Dato' Dr. Ashar. When she was first born, she looked like my younger brother,Yusof. Now she looks more and more like my mum's mother.

And,I'm sorry for the no posts.I've been busy for my Final Examinations as well as babysitting Hajar.I'll try to keep posting as regularly as I can.

Theres a TV!

As you can see, there's a television in the area where women pray which is on the 1st level or ground level. The television displays the movements of the imam just in case the microphone doesn't work.Last year,I prayed at the second level and the second level didn't have a television. There was one time when the microphone didn't work and it was dreadful to keep up with the imam's movements. So far,the microphone is still working.

Performing wudhuk

This picture was taken at the surau where I usually perform my Tarawih prayers.Tarawih prayers are prayed in pairs of two and can be prayed in any even amount of raka'ah, although 8 & 20 raka'ah is what Muslims usually pray. This prayer is performed after Isyak prayers. I usually pray 8 raka'ahs. The guy in the picture arrived at the surau after Isyak prayers were finished that's why he was in a hurry to perform his wudhuk.Wudhuk is better known as ablution.

Fruit seller

The guy in the picture was selling various types of fruits which I can't recall their names. Most of them were local fruits. He used to sell roasted water chestnuts but now I see he is starting to sell fruits instead.

Happy Ramadhan Al-Mubarak to all the Muslim DP Bloggers as well as Muslim visitors.

Setia Budi #2

Another picture of Setia Budi. For those of you who have forgotten or they've only just read my blog, you can read here. This picture was taken when the students were walking to go to their classes. Before they get to class, they'll pas by the IIUM montessory. The building of the montessory is two storeys high.If I get the chance to go inside,I'll take pictures of it.The design of the building is more less like the International Islamic University because they are under the same management.

Rooftiles

Good for you who got the correct answer. Our roof was leaking so my dad called up the contractor who renovated our house to check it out.Our house is 8 years old and the rooftiles were already damaged due to old age.The contractor went up the roof and took down a piece of the rooftile. It was literally rotten and it had fungus all over it so we have to change the whole set of rooftiles in the nearest time.

BTW,the fasting month is getting nearer!

Merdeka spirit

Nationwide, everybody is putting the Jalur Gemilang to show their spirit to celebrate the date which is very meaningful to us all in Malaysia, our National Day.They only do this when our National Day approaches and it is only a matter of weeks before it's National Day.Sometimes I wonder when will they let our Jalur Gemilang wave in the breeze forever. All around KL,I can see that nearly all the buildings have already have a Jalur Gemilang.

Ampang Park #3

Those two teenagers were smoking. These days in Malaysia some of the teenagers are already smoking. Some of them started since 10-12 years old and continue until now.I had to take this picture quietly because I was afraid they might notice. You'll never know what they'll do to you when they notice you taking a picture of them.

Setia Budi

This school used to be my school back in 2004 until 2006,now my younger brother is at this school. They moved to this new compound in 2005.The school's name is Sekolah Taman Ilmu dan Budi which means Garden of Knowledge and Virtue. It is then shortened into Setia Budi.It is under the International Islamic University Malaysia's management. In this compound, they have three school's in it including Setia Budi. The other two are International Islamic School(IIS) and the IIUM Montessori.Their session is from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m..Is that a very long period of time for one to be in school?

SACC Mall

I couldn't upload any pictures from my camera so I decided to use one of my old ones. This picture was taken at SACC Mall which is located in Shah Alam. The last time I went there, there were not many people.I guess because it was a Sunday and nobody wanted to get out of bed.

DP Theme Day:Typical Breakfast

I find nuggets and fruit juice to be my typical breakfast.Very childish isn't it?Well, because I have two younger brothers who are still in kindegarden,so I have to eat what toddlers eat, nuggets. It's actually quite delicious but after sometime you'll get sick with it.I haven't and lets pray I won't get sick eating nuggets nearly every day.

Do visit these other blogs which are participating.
Due to time difference, some pictures might appear later throughout the day.

The sign which everyone ignores

This sign is often ignored because no one seems to see it.It is quite hidden. It is really displeasing to hear cars speeding over the bump and produces this 'BUMP' sound which is very irritating.I hope someone will be moving this sign where someone migt be able to see it.

A helping hand

Yesterday was my School Festival or better known here as Canteen Day.My brothers didn't really give me a helping hand the day before that to make muffins to be sold at the canteen day,but they did help clean the mixing bowl.

Antique collection #1

This is one of the padlocks on our door.It was handed down to my dad by my grandfather. It used to be the lock to the front gate of my dad's house in Batu Pahat - 32 Jalan Durian, Taman Ampuan, Batu Pahat, Johor. It now guards our main entrance to the house, which is a 100 year old Javanese door.My dad is an antique collecto. We have more than 20 antique pieces at home. Will be posting more of it.
